  • pp cs3 dynamic link to AE – should I render

Not sure what the best method is so I’m hoping someone can give me some advise.

I’ve created a project using PPro which includes a handful of AE dynamic links that are not processor intense. Once I’m satisfied with the entire project, should I render out the project in PPro as is or should I render the finished AE compositions in AE and then import and replace them with the dynamic links into PPro?

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Joan

Simply render from PP, that’s part of the beauty of Dynamic Link!

Sorry for my noobness but, do you know of any tutorial or can you explain (very briefly, of course) how do you use dinamic links?

Just by telling me where’s the option, I can try to find out how it works…

    Cheers

Well, quite simply, if you have PP and AE open at the same time, you can just drag a comp from AE and drop it right in the Project panel in PP. Done!

For DL to work you need to have the production premium package. Not just PPro and AE alone. DL is actually installed as a seperate engine which only comes with ProdPremium. If you have it you can go to (PPro) File> Dynamic Link> Import or New. It will look for an AE file and ask which comp you want to import or open AE for you and start a new comp with your PPro settings and have the link already sitting in PPro Project panel.
Changes to the AE comp will directly update in PPro.

    OK, don’t have production Premium… So I can’t use it…

    I’ll continue as I was, then…

    Thanks
