it does now work with multi-proc off… does that mean i need more ram?
and then to remember to turn on MP for renders, because that is a huge speed boost.
am thinking about asking for nucleo at work, any thoughts on that…
do you think this is a software issue (bug) or memory…
it shouldnt just choke on frame 1 during a ram preview though…

thanks
i like TP more and more..
a couple-a more ?’s…
i am having trouble with some stock models with unlinked textures. is there a window i can bring up to fix and view texture assignments and links etc…
say – for extruded logos, the fillet cap seems to want to bulge the edges outward. i tried a bevel with the edges loop selected, but it just pushed everything back, almost like a z-axis move. i want kind of a chamfered rounded edge.
i like how my coworkers 3DS MAX has procedural beveling, edge selections…
is there a plug in out there that allows for more procedural tagging and rounding options for parametric objects

just thought, i could do a few moves with no underlying animation, export the camera move, and composite away in AE. i am kind of afraid of transparent textures in c4d after having a slightly bad experience with bad aliasing of an object that was under the surface of a place with a procedural water texture applied to it.
anyone had that?

i just have to say that youre THE MAN!! the R10 book is solid
you would think maxon would put out a pdf with the basic tools grouped by function like adobe does with AE…
i have been learning from the command manager, but i am more interested in just having a grouping of shortcuts for a discipline within the app and learning them, rather than inputting my own, as c4d is my first 3d app.

i think my dell lcd monitors are going.
whats the life expectancy on these guys? i am seeing mid to heavy banding through AE, QT playback.
one thing that might point to a GFX card issue, is in cinema 4d i get this wierd blocky green static
i have a dual 2 g5 with a geforce 5200, not great i know… any rec’s on a good gfx card for use with c4d or AE, or should i just save for 6mos to a year from now when I get a pimped out woodcrest 8 core intel mac. this machine is my home machine, and i mostly work on a machine at my day job, so it can wait. anyone had their monitors do this?

i guess my question was, if i save project to the admin folder of the user computer, do i still have to upload the .c4d file and every texture, or is there a faster way to save to the folder and have it auto render, or at the least, just select the .c4d i want to que up, without having to upload each individual texture
thanks

will there be a name that associates the various image sequences with the channel that they are isolating?
-
i get that
so if i save it to the admin folder, there will be a bunch of (name)NET.c4d and tex folders there, or do i save it to its own named folder like net render does when I upload to it.
is there a way to make it auto load into net render?
will i still have to upload, or is there another action i should do inside of the net render browser? this is the part im hazy on. is there a way to make it behave like AE render engine?
are you saying that you close out of the (name)NET.c4d file and go back to the working version to make more progress/chamges? also, in terms of working on a project, where you would have a story board with scenes and shots within each scene, can you have just one .c4d file with multiple camera angles rendering as multi pass items, or do you need a seperate .c4d for each ‘shot.’ it seems less easy to stay organized than AE. also, i would want to be able to change geometry once, and rerender all shots, where it seems like now, I would have to make the change, and then paste it into a bunch of .c4d files…
thanks so much for the helpful answers
“My workflow since years and with the way NET works as of now.
Finish your scene and save (Save As..)it as per usuall on your workstation. Make a editor render so you see that all textures are rendered.
This is your “back up” scene.
Now save the scene again, this time using “SaveProject”. This time save it directly into the admin folder on the server.
The “SaveProject” collects all the textures in the scene and place them in a “tex” folder on the server.
NOTE. Add some kind of prefix or ending to the name, like “MysceneNET”.
The reason is that this is the scene that now is open on your workstation. The “workstation” version gets closed. Any further work on the scene that you
now see open is actually done to the scene save on the server.”
