The Avid Timecode window is not for burned in timecode…its a window for the user interface that can be scaled quite large and track lots of info, besides the running sequence timecode. This is what the original poster is looking for and it is not available in FCP. Good feature request.

    No, it does not.

It’s technically against the law to circumvent the copy protection on iTunes downloads, even for non-commercial uses, so we cant tell you how to convert it to something usable in FCP on this site…but it is possible. Google is your friend.

Do a video mixdown of the Tif sequence, which will create a regular clip of it, which you then can apply motion effects to or create freeze frames from.

Do not do this, however if you are working at a low resolution and need to conform to a higher resolution sequence, as a video mixdown does not retain timecode information.

[Tim Karlson] “A Bug? From Apple? Shocking!.”

Its not a bug. Merged Clips are not supported in multiclip.

The main manual incorrectly states that it will work, but the supplementary Read Me corrects this error..

    Using Merged Clips Within Multiclips
The Final Cut Pro 5 User Manual (Volume II, page 248) incorrectly states that merged clips
can be used when creating multiclips. Merged clips cannot be used as multiclip angles.

Um…rather than try to create this effect with software, why not do it for real?

Lay the feature off to tape and record it being rewound to a second machine. Be sure not to regenerate the timecode on the dub or your Avid will freakout when you try to digitize it. If you dont have more than one machine, you can probably talk a dub house into helping you out with this one (a very long time ago I worked in a dub house and did this very thing for a client).

Plugins compiled for Power PC will work continue to work on Power PC machines but not Intel machines. Plugins need to be updated to Universal Binaries to work on Intel machines.

[christopher wright] “5.1 is only for the new Intel chip MACS, right?? It is not meant for the Power PC machines is it??

Not correct…it is UNIVERSAL, which means it is for BOTH PowerPC and Intel Macs. The point of Universal Binaries is that it is one application that can run on both architectures.

I would not think it would work, as Avid is not a Quicktime based application (plays OMF and MXF files, not Quicktime).

    https://www.avid.com/onlinesupport/supportcontent.asp?productID=0&contentID=3555&typeID=

Install this. Then convert to the codec you are working in using Compressor or Quicktime Pro. Don’t attempt to edit in FCP using Avid Quicktime files, they don’t play well with FCP
