Some, but not all. FCP supports an older spec, so some filters that take advantage of recent After Effects advances are not supported. Best to check the website of a particular filter manufacturer to see if it works with FCP…if it does, it will most likely say so, as its a good selling point.

You would be guessing wrong. AC3 is the Dolby Digital format and is most commonly used in DVD production. It is not generally playable by common software. You should use AIFF or WAVE if you wish to preserve maximum quality, then use iTunes or Toast to create your CD. If maximum sound quality is not required (speech, etc), you could also use MP3 or AAC. There is no best compatible format for the CD end product, as CD’s use a universal format read by every player/computer.

Not with FCP alone. But you can add timecode after export using the free utility Sebsky Tools.

7.5 is only for analog. A DVCAM deck should only read 0 IRE for proper black level when viewed on a digital scope.
You have the option on many DV decks to add 7.5 setup on the ANALOG output only. This is usually done via a menu setting, though not all decks have this. If you need to output to an analog tape (a Beta SP dub, for example) and your deck does not have this setting, then you would need an external TBC to adjust your black level. Again, this is only necessary in the analog realm. -

Import the image sequence into Quicktime Pro. Export as a Quicktime movie in the codec you are working in. Import that movie in FCP.
This is one reason why a Quicktime Pro license is included with FCP.

I am suggesting creating new user settings from scratch and saving a copy on a CD, that way you will always have an uncorrupted copy to re-install.
Seems to work well here, but your milage may vary. -
Try making new user settings for yourself…seems to fix a lot of wacky problems here…apparently they get corrupted rather easily.
Keep a copy backed up so you dont have to re-make them from scratch the next time it happens.

The Sheer Video Codec and the Microcosm Codecs offer Uncompressed with Alpha, but they are not free. If you are having problems using the Animation Codec, they might be worth a look. Neither will play without render within FCP.

There are no codecs that support alpha that work with realtime editing. This includes Avid…remember, Avid does not edit with Quicktime, but rather converts Quicktime to OMF (splitting off the alpha) on import.
