  • Can you add the sequence timecode to a quicktime conversion export?

Does anyone know if a way in FCP, to export a Quicktime “Conversion” (using the codec of your choice), but have the actual TC of the sequence show up on the QT player counter display instead of the typical start from ZERO?

It would be nice NOT to have to burn a TC window (though I know it’s easy).

    Thanks.

Not with FCP alone. But you can add timecode after export using the free utility Sebsky Tools.

No. Exporting to QuickTime Conversion does not export a TC track. You can however export to QuickTime Movie and make a custom setting for most frame sizes and codecs and that will export a TC track based on the sequence start time.

    All the best,

tom’s solution is great, and the way to go if you can.

but if you’ve already exported some files, you can just bring them back into FCP to modify the TC to what you want.

(open in viewer Modify Menu > Timecode)
