  • Syncing multiple AUDIO AND VIDEO TRACKS together…

Posted by Tim Karlson on April 2, 2006 at 11:08 pm

    I have FCP 5.0.4.
I have captured video on two cameras, and audio using a seperate digital audio recorder.
I want to connect all files via slate mark (timecode is different on video tracks).
I have tried to MERGE the four audio files (syncing to the slate) to one of the video tracks – success! BUT when I try to MULTICLIP the two video tracks together, the merged audio goes silent… A Bug? From Apple? Shocking!… Looking through the posts on LAFCPUG, I see there are posts there also about this very fundamental need. Is there another route I should be taking?
Any help would be greatly appreciated…

[Tim Karlson] “A Bug? From Apple? Shocking!.”

Its not a bug. Merged Clips are not supported in multiclip.

The main manual incorrectly states that it will work, but the supplementary Read Me corrects this error..

    Using Merged Clips Within Multiclips
The Final Cut Pro 5 User Manual (Volume II, page 248) incorrectly states that merged clips
can be used when creating multiclips. Merged clips cannot be used as multiclip angles.
