You should not letterbox your 16:9 footage in FCP. All DVD players will take care of this for you. Leave it anamorphic, it will fill the screen on widescreen tv’s and appear letterbox on 4:3 tv’s.

As you know, Avid uses OMF media files and FCP uses QuickTime.
You can export Quicktime files from Avid, but they lose their timecode. There is a way around that using Sebsky Tools

Frankly, its a pain in the ass…you are far better off doing what others have suggested using Automatic Duck. If purchasing it isnt in your budget, this might be a job you should walk away from.

Fetch is recordable by the AppleScript Script Editor….meaning you can just perform an action with the Script Editor recording and save it as an AppleScript…no code writing necessary.I don’t use Fetch, but I found this on their website.

Once you get the AppleScript made, it should be easy to get Compressor to fire it off from the Actions pane.

I don’t think Compressor supports Automator yet.

you cannot do a 59.94 fps EDL, as this frame rate did not yet exist in linear tape based edit rooms when the CMX protocol was invented.

the only supported frame rates are 29.97, 30, 25, 23.98, 24.

fcp does not import image sequences. import into quicktime pro and export as a quicktime movie in the codec you are editing in.
then import that into fcp.

There are also 2 files in Library/Preferences called com.RegFinalCutPro.plist and com.RegFinalCutStudio.plist which may also relate to this. Try deleting those, too, if the above does not work.

Make sure the admin account has Read and Write access to this folder using “Get Info” and make sure you are actually logged in as an admin.

There are also 2 files in Library/Preferences called com.RegFinalCutPro.plist and com.RegFinalCutStudio.plist which may also relate to this. Make sure you have read write access to that folder as well.

Run a permissions repair using Disk Utility, even if you repair those two folders manually, as you may have other errors.
