CGM and Eureka plugins are FX Script plugs (processor agnostic)…they are native to FCP and will work on Intel and PPC
Its the After Effects based plugs that dont work on Intel and need to be rewritten. -
Search for MERGED clips in the user help or in the manual.

Compressor droplets are your friend. Look for them in the Compressor help guide.

Correction. The plug in only works with sequences. If you have not yet edited in Avid, its not going to help you.
You really made a big mistake digitizing your footage in Avid if you want to edit in FCP. Were you not able to export Quicktimes from your Avid system as you proposed in your earlier posting?

But it is possible to use the media with the Automatic Duck Pro Import FCP plugin installed in FCP. Its $495.

Cool idea. Never thought of using that. I think Soundtrack Pro is his best option, because of the noise reduction capabilities.

You can do this in Soundtrack Pro. Note that if you boost the sound level, you will increase the noise too..Soundtrack has a good noise reduction filter too, but its never going to be perfect. You will have to actually read the Soundtrack manual for the procedure, but what you want to do is pretty simple.
A quick and dirty solution in FCP is to double or even triple the sound clips…edit the same sound clip on multiple tracks…you can even nest them together to make it easier to work with.

You should definitely learn to use it….never use the old version of Chroma Key (consider it there for backward compatibility).

Yes…do what David suggested…do not use the “export to compressor” command, unless you are unhappy with the results.
Export to Compressor encodes your effects directly to MPEG2, which takes MUCH MUCH longer, but in some circumstances can give you a slightly cleaner encode. It also ties up FCP for the duration of that lenghty encode.

You may be able to open it in FCP 5.x and export it as XML 1.0. Then try to open that in FCP 4, which I believe can open XML files (not sure when that capability was introduced)
