  • Quicktime Conversion query

I often export small Quicktime movies of spots I edit to clients for approval. When I open “Export via Quicktime Conversion” dialog it will default to exporting via H-264. I normally export Sorenson 3 movies since just about everyone can play these. I also fiddle with the data rates, audio sampling and size to make for a smaller file to email. It’s a pain to set up these parameters each and every time I export. Is there a way to save these settings as a preset rather than having to set them manually every time I export?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    hey tom

yes but dont use “quicktime conversion”. you can do all the flavors available in conversion and make custom presets as well by using compressor. the dailoque to make and save presets is a little clunky, but you could create a “toms sorenson” and apply it to the clips

to really take advantage of the batch feature, you need to export a native movie of each of the clips you want to compress, open them in compressor, and apply your presets. there may be a way to do batches directly out of fcp, but i dont do it that way. bascially cuz i do not know how, and i have had good succes doing it of of native files

i believe a lot of this is covered in the manual, if not i think compresor has its own help files

    hope this helps

Compressor droplets are your friend. Look for them in the Compressor help guide.
