YES. Its basically what they are for, and they are routinely used everyday for shows with longer durations and number of angles. You switch between each imported clip and only the one you want is in the timeline. Nothing to clean up later.

You should be using one of the AJA supplied Easy Setups, which all use the Apple RT enabled codecs. The codec you are using is for a very specific application, and is not RT enabled

If it looks fine in FCP (on a video monitor–not just the computer screen) its happening during your export from FCP or your MPEG2 encode in Compressor/DVDSP.
Please state how you exported from FCP (settings, etc.) and how you encoded for DVD.
Sounds like your field order is getting reversed somewhere in the process.

I think the tape was probably improperly recorded due to a head problem. You are probably screwed.
I have seen similar looking problems where the tape was accidentally recorded DVCPRO or DVCAM and played back on a mini DV only deck…but you seem certain that was not the case.

Are you playing the tape on a deck? Which model?
Was it recorded as DVCPRO, DVCAM or DV? Mini DV tapes can be used for all these formats.

There are separate buttons for switching (viewing without making cuts) and editing multicam. Make sure you are using the correct ones (and have the correct ones mapped to the keyboard.

Open what you exported in Quicktime Player.
Does it say it is PAL?

Just downloaded and used your plug in after reading this thread.
Worked great in this instance. (I can see that it depends on the image….I totally understand it not working at all with other types of footage) This was a host standup on the beach…basically just the sun and surf behind them…couldn’t tell at all. Much easier than layering and stretching with the motion tab.
