IMHO the best approach would be for her to burn a dvd which she can check for quality and send that to you to be copied. If she sends you a QT file the you’ll have to encode the mv2 and ac3 files from that, then create the dvd. While that’s not hard to do, she won’t be able to view it to make sure it properly represents her work.

I’d checkout the MXL mics. They sound very good for very little money. Dynamics will be noisier than condensers. I’ve never tried the usb mics so have no opinion. I’m sure others will have good info. Another thought is to find VO talent who have their own studio (like Ty) and hire them to do your VO. They will have invested a lot of money into their studios and you’ll get a high-quality track.

It could be a bad render. You can try deleting the renders with Render Manager and re-render. Then see if you can export. If that doesn’t work, it’s possible you’ve got corrupt media. To narrow down where in the sequence the problem may be, try exporting smaller segments. If one doesn’t work, then look to that segment as having bad media.

To add to the confusion, ProTools has different timing for 23.976 and 24. If one side is thinking 24 means 23.976 (probably the norm) and the other side thinks 24 mean 24, then sync will be off.

With H.264 you’ll get no RT as it’s not an edit codec. It’s a delivery codec. Why not edit in ProRes or other good codec, export a Quicktime and use Compressor to make the H.264 from that. This way you can edit properly with little rendering and still end up with an H.264 delivery file.
