I’ve been playing around with various settings to export for IMDb Video, but even if everything looks good in QuickTime, when it’s uploaded to IMDb, the picture is always very fuzzy. Does anybody know the best output settings for the site?

    Thanks.

I’m not familiar with IMDB specs, but I imagine they are similar to YouTube and Vimeo. If you search the Cow for those, you’ll find many recommendations.

That’s what I thought, but they aren’t quite the same. I’ve used certain export settings for YouTube with very good results, and when I upload the same video to IMDb the picture is fuzzy.

Rescaling well is difficult for many encoders, so do the rescaling to final size in Compressor with Frame Controls on and the rescaling control set to Best. If you own Video Purifier, it scaling is excellent. Then set your data rate for the max allowed or max file size allowed (which is data rate x total seconds of video). Maybe that will help.

    Recommended Video Settings
We recommend the following settings to optimize video quality on the IMDb site:
• File size: Less than 2GB
• Frame: 480 px by 360 px at 30 frames per second
• Format: Flash Video (Codec: Sorenson or VP6 codec) or Quicktime
