Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy audio cuts out

  • Posted by Dwight Cendrowski on August 3, 2009 at 9:11 pm

I’ve had a new Mac Pro for about 3 months. I have Final Cut Pro (5.1.4), and all works well except lately while working the sound will suddenly cut out. I get nothing but clicking. I get no audio from any other program after that, though the problem is only initiated with Final Cut. I restart the computer and the sound is back.

    Any thoughts on why?

Please describe your system. What’s attached? How do you monitor sound? Drives? Broadcast monitor, etc? The more info you provide the easier it is to make suggestions.

I’ve just discovered it happened when the audio spiked off the scale for a few seconds. I eliminated that section and it seems to have taken care of it. Is it possible for a very loud audio spike to knock out the sound? I’m using a Mac 2.66 GHz Quad Core, 10.5.6, viewing on Apple monitor, with files on external hard drive enclosure.
