DNxHD36 is only available in 23p/24p/25p projects.

They should live in Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1. You did not mention the MXF subfolder…

Another thought: you can still _make_ the subtitle file in Belle Nuit’s Subtitler, then import it into SubCap. It will take master timecodes and place the captions where they were spotted in BN.

Yes. You can use Subcap, from the Generator tab in the Effects Palette.

I just subtitled the cutting copy of my current project for screening purposes. What I did was prepare a text document with the captions. Then placed a subcap effect on the places I needed subtitles, and copy pasted the right portion of text from the document into the Caption text.

As I wrote on the forums, I fear you are going to be spending a lot of time figuring out how to automate a part of the process, when you might be much better off manually recutting the film. TK all negative, bring in all sound, make sync clips and recut the film.

That said, you should be able to do a TK of the workprint and get flex files from that (although they would not necessarily be frame accurate, the KK is not tracked per frame).

Not sure how, but you could possibly build an EDL from that. From that EDL build a sequence, and then you could relink based on KeyKode.

A lot of fun, but it may only get you 20% of what you need, and it may take a lot of time.

Make sure that you place the media on that 2TB drive in the right folder and subfolders. Avid does not use the path, but the media database, you can easily move media to another drive without having to relink.

If your media is OMF, it should reside in a folder named “OMFI MediaFiles”, which should sit on the root level of that drive.

If your media is MXF, it should reside in a subfolder named “1” or “2” or any other number, which should reside in a folder named “Avid MediaFiles” which should reside at the root level of that drive.

You can force the Avid to rebuild the databases for those folders, by manually deleting the msm.pmr files. They will rebuild when you launch the Avid.

After that, the Avid will know where you media lives, and the clips will link (connect) to that media.

Not sure and cannot test at this time, but laying it in a timeline should be easy if you use AutoSequence on each source.

If it tells you to reinstall, I’d give that a try. Takes less than 10 mins, usually.

Skip the RGB levels, you’ll only be clipping your original footage, and it will be less apt for color correction. Stay in 601, that’s where digital video lives.

Just export same-as-source QT for color correction and provide them with the Avid codec.

Any conversion to RGB (for web delivery) should be done AFTER the color grading, never before it.

You mention Unity/Interplay in the subject line.
What are the names of the subfolders in your Avid MediaFiles folder?

They might have names like “AVID1.1” or “PETER.1”, and if you are now using local storage (FireWire), the Avid might not be able to recreate the media databases. If you rename those folders to “1” and “2” and “3” or “11” or “13” or “101” or “999” (ergo: a number only), the Avid might properly rebuild the database and that should give you access to the footage.
