  • Re-link issues with Avid Unity/Interplay

    Hi there,

I have just been transfered from an office that used Media Composer 4 to an office that uses Avid MC 3.5 Nitris DX with Unity and Interplay. I transferred my project and media using an external firewire drive. When I opened my project on the new computer 2/3 of my media was recognized while the other 1/3 says it’s offline. When I tried to relink the media it wouldn’t allow me to select anything in the relink box (Everything was light grey and couldn’t be selected). When I hit the OK button at the bottom of the relink screen nothing gets relinked.

I know my media is on the drive but for some reason I can’t relink it in Avid. Any thoughts? Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Lori

You mention Unity/Interplay in the subject line.
What are the names of the subfolders in your Avid MediaFiles folder?

They might have names like “AVID1.1” or “PETER.1”, and if you are now using local storage (FireWire), the Avid might not be able to recreate the media databases. If you rename those folders to “1” and “2” and “3” or “11” or “13” or “101” or “999” (ergo: a number only), the Avid might properly rebuild the database and that should give you access to the footage.

There are four folders inside of the MXF Folder labeled 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

There is also an OMFI Media Folder. I have been doing some reading and have noticed that OMFI media might be a problem with Interplay. Still, Avid is not seeing everything in my MXF folders and it was having issues with indexing the drive.

    Any thoughts?

Same problem here. All Unity media is fine but my 8tb local array media is all offline, even though a “reveal file” command shows the .mxf files in the correct folder. Really pissing me off.
