Did you uninstall previous versions of the application?

Don’t think so. If you need to go back to an older version, you can still demote the sequence.

Make sure that your ShotLog Import Options are set to “maintain events as logged”.

Should be easy. I’ve taken projects from my PC’s to my Powerbook(s) in the past. I think the most safe way is to copy your bins and start a fresh project.
One thing, there have been some changes in v3.5. If you open a 2.9 sequence in 3.5, it might prompt you to promote the sequence. If you need to work on that sequence in 2.9 again, you need to “demote” it prior to going back (this all results in copies of the sequences).

Funny. But even that doesn’t hold up. At least, I would not know how to enable or disable tracks by keyboard mapping in PT…

Switch your project to SD (Format Tab in your Project Window), import, switch to HD.

Unfortunately, that has been a feature request for some time now, and it doesn’t appear to have been picked up yet.

Avid does not seem to want the Symph upgrade prices posted online. I think the list price for the upgrade is around 820EUR in Europe, ex VAT. I’m guessing that will compare to 995 USD.

All that, plus FCP changes the gamma on imnported clips from P2. I notices that when I needed to export some stuff that went P2->FCP->Avid, and comparing it to the Avid imports. From the looks of it, what you see in FCP might even have illegal levels. Check on the waveform/vectorscope.
