Before exporting, change to TRANSPARENT in the Canvas window display to check that there is transparency (look for the checkerboard background).
Are you exporting with the Animation compressor set to Millions+ as the color depth? You must use a format that includes the alpha channel.

October 3, 2005 at 9:38 pm in reply to: How to change the color of the LiveType Font Flip Clock?LiveFonts are actually looping video clips, not text. There are separate clips for the uppercase ‘A’ and the lowercase ‘a’ and all visible characters. You would need to apply a color-replacing filter and constrain it to the red.

October 3, 2005 at 9:35 pm in reply to: work flow from motion 2k project to Cinema 35mm uploadWould this be all-original graphics, or would you want to import and use video clips?
You would need to work at the 2K frame size in 32-bit float color space. You will need to have the biggest, baddest dual-G5 with high-end video card and lots of RAM to work reasonably at those specs.
For outputting you would check with the filmout service bureau as to the best file format for them to work with.

October 3, 2005 at 9:31 pm in reply to: DVD menu created in Motion 2. How do I export to DVD SP4 to use text as buttons? You can select the text areas as buttons, but you still need some sort of overlays to light up to indicate which button is selected or activated.
Do you want the text itself to change depending on the button state, or do you want to create separate overlays? I prefer the latter as it allows me to create cleaner-looking overlays (simple rectangular shapes). You can create the overlay layer in Motion as well as the background layer.

1. Select all the layers.
2. Move to the frame where you want to set an identical keyframe value (to hold the value)
3. Make sure the Autorecord button is active (glowing red)
4. Nudge the selected layers up and back (cmd-shift-up arrow, cmd-shift-down arrow).
This will set a keyframe for the selected layers. This method is for changing the position of the layers but can also be used for other attributes as well.

September 30, 2005 at 12:09 am in reply to: Motion 2 Books are they any out, are they any good?!It’s kinda like the Extrude filter in Photoshop where you can make it look like shapes are “pushing” through the image based on the image map object. For example. if you use a checkerboard generator as the Relief image map, the clip you apply it to will look like it’s been stretched toward the viewer by several rectangular “bars.” Can create a nice 3D background when animated.
