Yes, you must get one of the cards that works with Mac. The ATI x1900 is my choice.

Yes, the x1900 is currently the way to go.
Motion is heavily dependent on the GPU on the graphics card for most of its magic. The VRAM on the card affects performance depending on the number of objects in the composite, and the CPU speed mostly affects things like particle system calculations.
More and more we will see the Video GPU playing a prominent role in pushing pixels around the screen. The Apple developers conference starts next week and we may see some new hardware announced (they just released the new MacBook Pros today)

Look in your Keying effects menu.
If there is fringing on the keyed object then you want to adjust the edges by using the Matte Choker.

The Threshold effect turns everything to black or white pixels (depending on the luminance). Fast, easy way to get silhouettes.
You can also use Levels for more control.

Don’t forget to extend out the tracks and timeline window. The TL window will still show the original comp length and the tracks will keep there original duration.

What is the image efficency? Maybe your RAM is full and the virtual disk in use is at its limit.

You have to go into the menu editor (bottom of the Edit menu) and reset the menus.

May 31, 2007 at 4:03 pm in reply to: importing titles into final cut pro without loosing anythingLayer styles are stored separately from the actual layer content and must be merged before using in FCP.
Duplicate the image before making drastic changes such as merging layers. Always keep the original intact so you can make changes without starting from scratch.

“Significantly better” is a judgment call.
Download the 30-day trial from Adobe and see for yourself:

The visibility switch is in the Layers palette to left of the layer name.
The eyeball is an icon to indicate an object’s visibility.
Clicking the eyeball makes the object appear/disappear.
Alt/Option clicking makes all the other objects appear/disappear.You can also click and drag through a number of visibility boxes to turn layers’ visibility on or off.
