An adjustment layer is like putting a filter on a camera lens. It affects everything you see through the lens. Since you always look at comps from the top layer downwards. adjustment layers can be used much as you might nest compositions–to affect several layers as one.

Specialcase got it. Motion 2 project files are treated as though they are QT movies by FCP (and DVDSP and After Effects). If you import the .motn file it will play like a .mov but you still have the ability to save changes in the original .motn file and have them update automatically in the calling program.

As Noah said, always try to judge things on a broadcast monitor, not the computer monitor. And per his suggestion, rendering the project as a QT .mov file will enable faster performance in the calling app. Changes to the original project would have to be rendered to a file with the same name as the previous render.

You can’t open a motion project in FCP– you have to IMPORT it like it’s a QT movie file.

Have you tried using the texturizer filter?

Also, look into the Machine Wash sets of effects:

You can access cameras and lights and 3D compositing space by activating the 3D layer switch on all the layers you want included.

Not having seen what you are describing makes it impossible to know exactly what you are trying to achieve.

You can always try to recreate the blocks text behavior with an animated Replicator…

Text behaviors usually animate text-specific parameters which is why they cannot be used with non-text objects.

Import the movie, place it under the actor element and scale it up slightly.

    Color to suit.

Not sure I understand what the probem is. Jitter is frequently a result of field-mismatches or a lack of motion blur. Duplicated frames are frequently a result of a timebase (frame rate) issue. Are you using PAL or NTSC? Frame rate? Field dominance?
