August 24, 2007 at 6:27 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects CE Pixel SamplerI wish i knew why is that. The server was down twice, first time it was down for a weak, then for 3 days. But it is working now 100% sure, but somehow some people cant see the site, while others do. I’m working this one out. I hope that soon it will be working for everyone.
Thanks for taking interest in my site. Keep checking up if it works.

But you’re right.
You should see her smile in the “PAL Suzy Hair Flip.avi”.
The only good reason to get Adobe Ultra 😀
She bites her tongue…… so cute 😉Cheers

Wow. Dude. What can I say.
Dude!
I guess that AE has it’s limits, but I rather think that it’s RAM that you’re missing. After Effects manages memory different than Photoshop, so if you think you have enough RAM, because it works in Photoshop ir doesn’t mean it will work in AE.
The only thing that comes to my mind is to instantly create a proxy after importing this huuuuge file into AE. Make it one third of the size or less. After all… you’ll need to zoom out to work on the file so why process all those pixels.
After applying the effects add the comp to the render queue, save the file but don’t render. Make sure that the render settings will use the original footage, not the proxy, and that the final resolution is ok.
after saving the file quit AE… and restart your machine 😉
than use the command line to render the comp without loading AE interface and stuff…to use the AE renderer (command line interface) navigate to your AE installation folder (the same place where AfterFX.exe sits), open up the console by doing Start > Run > cmd, and type this “aerender -project X:\project_1.aep”
maybe, MAYBE this will help.
and what is that effect that you cannot create in Photoshop anyway? i simply think of one like that.
cheers

August 23, 2007 at 7:20 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects CE Pixel SamplerI’m very happy that this preset helps in your work. I’m already planning an update for it, since I forgot to include the most obvious thing – measuring the Alpha value of a pixel 😉
So stay tuned and wait for the update.
Cheers

August 23, 2007 at 7:19 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects CE Pixel SamplerI didn’t include Suzy, or any other footage, because then the project file would be like 150MB. I’m sure you understand that.
But if you’ve followed the tutorial, than probably you have AE CS3, and if you do, you probablu have Production Premium. If you do, you can find “PAL Suzy Medium.avi” in the Sample Clips folder of Adobe Ultra installation dir.
Thanks for your support everybody. Stay tuned, and if you have some free time don’t be afraid to visit me on maltaannon.com and leave a comment there.
Cheers

August 23, 2007 at 3:59 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects CE Pixel SamplerThanks everyone for your support, and thanks Ron for laying out so nice from where my creative juices come from 😉
Oh. and btw. I’m looking for a Mac programmer, it may me AppleScript programmer, or maybe an AppleScript emulator for windows. I’d like to release Mac installer for CustomEffects, so you wouldn’t have to install the presets manually.
And since I don’t have a life, I’ve started a “maltaannon’s hotline”. You can now call me when you need help in topics related to After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, compositing and 3D in general… or when you simply need someone to talk to 😉 You can find more info on my website.
And btw… some of you are complaining that the site is down. Well, it was for two days, but that was like a few weeks ago. The funny thing is that people still say that the site is down, but it seems that it works for some of you, because I’m constantly getting comments and emails (and I’d like to that you for that)
Thank you once again everybody!
Take care!
Happy AfterEffect’ing 😉maltaannon

Camtasia is the best, thats for sure. And not because all of the features it has… i personally don’t like them. To much beating around the bush to get the job done. Its embeded flv encoder is simply most optimal i know of.
For the time being i use my own software to do that, but it is not even close to ReleaseCandidate version, and I don’t know if it ever will be.
But anyway… there are many freeware and opensource projects that do the same thing. Try google, or sourceforge.net.
Here is the link to one of many projects like that:

hey! i had this tutorial in my mind for a long time, but i thought about it as “Blob mesh”. i thought that it’s useless but it looks like someone really needs it. and Lava Lamp sounds much better so be ready. the tutorial is coming.
the basic idea is to draw the blobs, apply some turbulence if you wish, blur them quite a bit, and then apply alpha levels on the adjustment layer above them.
this may be not the exact recipe since i don’t remember how i did it when i was planning the tutorial, but since someone needs to know, i’m sure to check it out and record a new tut.
good luck.
cheers.
