year counting up animation?
Hi all,
Ok, heres the scoop. I’m looking for a simple way to go from the year 2000 to the year 2050 a long with a time lapse animation that I made. Sounds simple, and it should be.
First off, let me start by saying I tried the number>short date effect. It will only go to the year 2040, then it starts back to 1900. I have no idea where the year 2040 came into play when they decided to stop, but thats the story. Anyways, I just wanted the year, no the day and month. So I applied a mask to the solid but for some reason, the mask will not mask anything out when the number effect is applied to it. Again, I don’ know why!
Anyways, is there a simple way to do this or is there a simple expression or do I need to do some harder more involved animation.

so you just want a number to count up from 2000 to 2060 between two points in time?
Make a solid. Apply effect Text->Numbers . Choose a font. Then keyframe the setting Value/Offset/Random Max and set it to 2000. Then go to the point in the timeline where it will be 2060 … and set the same setting to 2060.
Set decimal places to 0.
