If you select the imported clip in your browser and then type cmd+9, you’ll get it’s format, size etc… might be easier than what you are doing now.
But there’s no way to do it other than what you are doing now.

You should be able to just open their project file… and copy the clips and markers from that to yours if you want to.

Check the format of the import into iTunes. It’s probably set to MP3 or something… you need to work with aif files in FCP. You can change the import format in iTunes, or simply use QuickTime to convert the files (which are proabaly aifs or CD audio files at 44.1 kHz) and change them to aif files at 48 kHz.
They may also simply copy from the CD’s to your scratch disk, and import them from there to FCP. They’ll likely work in their native format.

Double click the shot from the Browser or from the timeline window, type cmd+j… then click on the reverse option.

And then, very fast and hard too. You got me all wrong Marco. I like to watch you beat on Gary.
I go just to see everyone I think, and listen to the buzz. There was some too. JVC’s new HDV camera shows promise, as does the November coming of the Panasonic camera 200 something or other.
One thing that I think sort of got overlooked is a relative price drop from Apple on the upgrade path. Studio for 499 if you are running all three of the latest versions of DVD SP, FCP, and Motion. That really is a price drop if you ask me. Upgrades to all three for the old price of the FCP upgrade.
AJA’s new free software is DA BOMB too I think. Thanks AJA!

Might try rebuilding the offending clips one more time by exporting them as self contained QT movies (then edit the duplicates back in). see if you can rebuild them that way? What sequence settings are you using?

Not necessarily don’t think. DV-25 files take as long to render as uncompressed SD files in FCP even with them being 5 times smaller. The HD files aren’t larger file size wise, but there are more pixels in them. So it takes a lot longer to render them I’d think.
That said, Compressor 2 will allow you to connect to a render farm… cool. It’s linear too, to G5 Duals, Half the time rendering with Compressor 2 or so. You can cluster computers on an ethernet network with it.

Of course you could capture the material twice… and use the analog outs thru another camera/capture card/IO/box and raise the levels on the way with a mixer. We are talking DV system here right?
