Is there a way I can import someone’s markers and comments from one FCP project to another that uses the same media?

You should be able to just open their project file… and copy the clips and markers from that to yours if you want to.

f you’re using their project file, their Markers should appear in the sequence on your computer.

If you are looking for a quick way to “automatically” make your project file conform to theirs… there’s not one… You can drag all of their clips with one move to your file as well. Just select them all and move them. The markers made will not show up in your project’s original sequence don’t think though…

Maybe if you posted where you need to get? Is their project file the same as yours only with the markers? ie. it has the same sequences etc as well as the clips?

There are 2 projects with identical clips. One of the projects is being used to mark these clips as well as add comments, labels, ect, the second is being used to actually edit. The question was, and I think the answer we’ve reached is no, that there is no way to export those markers and import them. I know I can export and import a batch list, but that doesn’t as far as I know, include my marker settings…

I think you are over thinking this… if all it is, is a set of identical clips, why not edit with the one that contains the markers and forget your own project file sans the markers?

The director of the film is making markers on clips in a seperate project file from the one that the editor is editing in. I am helping the editor orginize around this situation. We want to avoid the possibility of the director accidently affecting the edited version…Do you see what I mean? Once the director is done commenting on clips, we wnat to be able to import those markers with their comments so that we can use them for editing….
