  • low audio levels when log and capturing

My audio levels are always very low when I log and Capture audio. I notice there is a gain adjustment slider, however it is always greyed out. How can I make this active?

    Thanks

FCP 5 will allow you to raise levels while capturing, however FCP 4 won’t… I’d suggest you record with more level in the first place, or you can duplicate your audio clips so that you can raise level during editing if raising just one layer of this audio isn’t enough.

Of course you could capture the material twice… and use the analog outs thru another camera/capture card/IO/box and raise the levels on the way with a mixer. We are talking DV system here right?
