I’m afraid it has to analyze a captured file first. It may or may not be a problem though. Are the files out of sync? if not, you really don’t have a problem, right?

256MB would run Motion a lot better and would also drive two monitors better… other than that though, won’t speed up rendering because it’s a CPU intensive task…

The specs show this is just a display monitor (has no blue only switch), Maybe the JVC does? You’ll want one to calibrate the monitor.

If you flatten the file in Photoshop, it will lose it’s layers, but if you don’t it shouldn’t. Needs to be a non flattened file, and contain NO blank layers.

Can you post Links to the Specs of the two? I’m not finding either monitor online…? They aren’t current models right? you own them already or?

Seems to me that the best solution here is to buy a 400 or 500 gig drive and store the media that way. It’s faster at any rate…

Probably, but why would you want to work in SD? Takes more space than HDV for starters, and if you source the same tapes online/offline, there won’t be any error wouldn’t think.

There’s a very good explanation of the 24p offline/online process in the Cinema Tools Help (it’s manual actually) take a look at that to get you up and running… Starts on page 179.

Probably will need a PC card that adds another FW port to the setup sometimes you can’t use PB’s to capture from a FIrewire device to a FW drive… otherwise, the screen size is really the only big difference between the PB’s… Currently, only the G4’s will run FCP until later this month when Apple ships the universal version… remains to be seen if there’s gotcha’s sharing project files between non universal and universal systems, but I’ll bet they go back and forth OK.

Mark an in and out point in the too long clip, then use file/export/QT movie, and make it self contained… then export the rest the same way.
