  • fcp color correction – what kind of monitor?

    Hi there,
This question isn’t so much about finalcut as it is about broadcast monitors.. the project I am working on has reached the color correction phase and I have a couple options for which broadcast monitor I can use.. the first is JVC, model number TM-1400 SU. The other is Panasonic CT-S1390Y. I’ve searched a little but haven’t found any opinions on these monitors, so I thought I’d ask here. We’d have to calibrate these monitors but they ARE broadcast and that’s what we need. I am going to be using finalcut pro 5.0.4 if that makes any difference, on a Mac G5, don’t know if this makes a difference but it can’t hurt.
Any opinions would be appreciated.. thank you

and feel free to move this thread if it’s in the wrong forum…

Can you post Links to the Specs of the two? I’m not finding either monitor online…? They aren’t current models right? you own them already or?

I’m having a hard time finding specs on them too… especially for the jvc, couldn’t find any useful info. For the panasonic, there’s a little info on this site:
    https://www.vidinc.net/pancts1390y.html

Also found another forum that was talking about field monitors and one person said the panasonic was alright but not great for color accuracy.

I don’t think they’re current models. I don’t own them, they’re owned by the computer lab where we’ll be doing color correction. I talked to person who runs the place and she said she bought those monitors pretty cheap, and that she’s heard the jvc is better… but I’m conflicted since I can’t find any info on the jvc.

The specs show this is just a display monitor (has no blue only switch), Maybe the JVC does? You’ll want one to calibrate the monitor.
