It’s an MPEG-2 Streamclip… you need this: https://www.squared5.com/ and turn it into something editable.

Try disconnecting the sync from your system, and setting the kona control panel to free run instead. How is the xServe RAID formatted?

Look to see if the anamorphic checkbox is checked in the Browser column next to these clips… turn it off if it is.

Trash your preference file for FCP. Search the forum on “preferences” or Prefs if you don’t know how…

  • Are you trying to capture tapes shot with a sony camera? or just using Sony stock. If it’s just the stock, you have no problem, but you won’t be able to playback material shot with a sony camera in the JVC deck don’t think.

  • No as long as the frame rates are the same. The GOP structure is different between Sony’s shot material and JVC’s format, but Lumiere HD conforms the JVC to the sony song as it were. Long GOP is what results and it’s what FCP can edit.

Could be a heat related hardware problem. Run the hardware test disk that came with your computer… see if it finds something wrong.

Doesn’t the optical drive slot have IDE connectors? IF so how are you going to add another SATA? With another card? can you snake the cable up thru to it? Would you void the warranty? Probably… I’m guessing of course, but that’s my take on it… you’d be better off booting from a FW drive and striping the 4 that it can contain if what I surmise is correct.

    1. Yes.
    2. Motion will supply more RT with the card.
    3. That depends… if you run Motion a lot, probably the card, and if you render a lot probably the 3 gig…

Thanks for the info! Is it a standard filter? I’m not much of an AE user…
