    Hi there

I have a piece of footage here that was shot in very low light conditions. As a result, when trying to color correct, I end up with a very grainy image. Is there any way, in final cut pro or other app, to disguise this grain (I guess totally getting rid of it is just impossible) ?

    Thanks a lot

    Next time use more light?

You could use a touch of blur to smooth out the noise, but of course you’ll also lower the resolution… I’ve never seen software that reduces noise that was in the image to tell you the truth… I have seen software to match MORE noise though.

AE has a noise remove tool (similar to the one in Photoshop) that works pretty well. It has alot of parameters to tweak the effect also.

Thanks for the info! Is it a standard filter? I’m not much of an AE user…

    Ben,

    https://www.chv-plugins.com/

Christoph has a noise reducer in his repair bundle. I have just ordered the entire bundle plug ins so can’t report on how effective this is I ordered the disk. You can download a demo from the site.
