Help with JVC video camera format
The newer JVC cameras use a replacable hard drive and have a 4 gig/hour compressor. Stored on 4 to 8 gig replacable hard drives.
It comes with a PC application for video editing but cannot get iMovie HD, the latest version of Finalcut Express or the last version of Adobe Premier to recognize the files upon transfer to the Mac’s hard drive.
Any suggestions? Don’t want to go through my PC every time I edit a file…

What’s the format of the video you are shooting? DV should just be compatible, but HDV from JVC requires Lumiere HD to work with FCP or FCE. https://www.lumierehd.com

Thanks. No, it’s not HD. I looked at the Lemier web site. This is a product for HD only. No, it’s a unique format to the GZ-MC500 JVC video camera. The compressor yields 4 gig/hour, as opposed to about 12.6 Gig/hour full DV, and about 2 gig/hour DVD MPEG-2.
Anyone know of this format and a Mac solution?

It’s an MPEG-2 Streamclip… you need this: https://www.squared5.com/ and turn it into something editable.

Wow, that is the extention (.mod) that I was looking for, and it’s free, and makes sense.
