Can you choose another format for the capture card to capture the video in instead of mp4? If so, list them out and we can see if any of those would be better suited for editing than your mp4 file.

While you are at it, please list the mp4 file specs.

You failed to mention what codec you were missing and what you actually installed to get it to show up on the timeline. Do you have any fx applied to the footage?

  • Out of curiosity, before you applied your noise textures did you set your project settings to be the same as your render settings?

If not, see what dimensions your project is set to, adjust them to match your render settings.

I had a similar issue with the Text GM’s when I accidentally was editing in standard DV instead of HD. It caused my settings to be off as the GM’s were createad with Standard Def dimensions.

I don’t live anywhere near Portland, but I would be happy to remote in to your system (given you have it online) and give you a helping hand on the basics. If you don’t find anyone local or the tutoring doesn’t work out, feel free to email me through the forum and we can set up a time for a remote session.

Thanks Dirk. I look forward to a better workflow using this tool as I think it will prove to be invaluable for footage that needs to be slowed down or sped up.

As for your second post on this thread, that would work okay as long as audio was not attached to the clip. If it is, you would have to do the math to get it to sync up correctly if CTRL+Drag’s range was exceeded.

    Sorry you feel that way.

You could partition off part of a hard drive (or use a different hard drive) to use for dual booting purposes. I do this and use my older install for testing and my newer install for just editing software. This way you don’t lose what you have but you gain the functionality you have been lacking… who knows, you may even see some improvements worth switching for.

I didn’t realize that you https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/208/877554 until now.

Hopefully you will find a way to make it work for you. I don’t quite understand why you would want to go through all the trouble to get it to work via a hack when you could just upgrade to a supported OS… or like you said earlier, continue to use Pro 9.

January 6, 2011 at 3:22 am in reply to: Stabilize more than one clip at a time?

Yes. I am assuming you are using the built in stabilizer in Vegas Pro 10? You can have it to stabilize the entire clip that the event is pulled from (the main clip that is in your project media tab that contains your selected piece on the timeline).

However, I find that it works best on an event by event basis.

If you are wanting to do two or more events from separate clips, then this is a no go currently using the built in stabilizer.

Make sure you have your entire project selected and choose when rendering, “render loop region”.

Another way would be to ensure that you do not have “render loop region” selected and make sure that your project starts at the first frame of the timeline (no empty space).

You will also want to ensure that you don’t have any of your tracks that need to be on the rendered video muted (circle with a slash through it on the track header).

Are these clips you filmed? If so, what camera? Is the audio from an external unit such as a Zoom H4?

You should be able to shift the audio a few frames to the left or right to match the sound up again. You may notice “drift” further down the timeline and have to split the audio clip and move what is the right of the split a few frames again to get it back in sync.

If the audio is attached to the video (if you move the video and the audio moves with it), simply push the “u” key while having the audio or video stream selected and it will ungroup the two streams.
