Why would redigitze and encode from even lower quality DV instead HDV? Just curious. You can send out the HDV using a 16:9 setting and set your crop or letterbox in DVD studio pro, whatever you need.

I think you’re right on Jeff. It works differently in FCP than in AE. In AE it’s a temporary key press and also a temporary ‘state’, in FCP you toggle snapping on and off making it a more permanent state, just as you said. Also, in the upper right corner of your timeline, alan, there’s a little button that will turn snapping on and off. ‘N’ is much easier and faster to use, but the button will show you visually if snapping is on or off.

I take it that the clips were captured on the G5 with quciktime v7.x, correct? I also trust that your laptop is quickitme v6.x? I would upgrade your laptop to FCP5 and tiger and all the other updates and you shouldn’t see this problem.

There’s a certain program that rhymes with an old serial killer named Jack the Ripper that will do what you need. Jack used Macs all of the time. I’ll leave it up to you to find the rest.

Try creating a new project and set up a new sequence with the proper sequence settings. Select all in the problem timeline then copy & paste these clips into the new timeline in the new project. If that works select everything in your browser short of the timeline that is giving your problems and paste it all into the new project.
Just for yuks, have you tried importing that xml into a new sequence in FCP in your current project?
You do have heads and tails on your clips, correct? Did you upgrade to Tiger or do a clean install? If you did not do a clean install it is highly recommended. It sounds like a funky configuration or upgrade anomaly to me, but this is just a guess without being able to see your timeline.

You answered your own question. Select or highlight or lasso all of the clips you need to put the filter on and select the flicker filter from the effect menu and you are good.

What codec are you using? Have you tried deleting your render files?

Hey Lex. The video out of photoshop cs2 is only for dv sources. ALthough the io family uses the firewire pipe, it does not send or receive a standard dv signal to/from it’s firewire port. You can use a dv deck to monitor the photoshop cs2 output.
