Temporary Snap
I can’t find anything in the manual, but thought I remembered reading somewhere that there is a keypress that temporarily activates snapping in FCP’s timeline. Like the shift click in AE.
Am I wrong? It sure would be very useful, for me at least.

I think “n” is what you’re looking for.

Or not, now that I’ve thought about your question a little more. I see you’re looking for a key to hold. “n” will toggle it on and off, which is close, but not exactly what you meant. I don’t know the answer to your question.

I think you’re right on Jeff. It works differently in FCP than in AE. In AE it’s a temporary key press and also a temporary ‘state’, in FCP you toggle snapping on and off making it a more permanent state, just as you said. Also, in the upper right corner of your timeline, alan, there’s a little button that will turn snapping on and off. ‘N’ is much easier and faster to use, but the button will show you visually if snapping is on or off.

Yes thanks guys, I knew about the button and the ‘n’ shortcut, It’s just that I’m sure I read sometime that a temp push keyboard button, a la AE was available.
