  • Two ways to get around this.

    1) Convert your C4D cloner object to mesh. You may have to bake your keyframes if you have any effectors like Delay or something.

    2) Export an OBJ sequence from C4D and import that into Element. I use the Riptide Pro plugin for that.

  • Have you finagled with the Rotation Layer Map? I imagine that has to help somehow. If not, then I would jump ship. Trapcode plugins are pretty awesome, but there really isn’t THAT much control over the individual particle like X Particles (C4D).

This is a good opportunity to read the manual 😉 I’m really not trying to be a smart ass. The manual gives a lot of insight for things like this. I’ll admit, I never understood it either.

I would just do each letter instead of trying to do the reveal on one layer. You’ll get a much better result without worrying about the overlap. There are scripts to separate out letters in a text layer like “Decompose Text” or you could just convert the text layer to Shapes (preserves compound shapes better than “convert to masks”)

Write-on effect is what you want. Parent the position of the write-on to your tracked null after you track the finger doing the writing.

March 12, 2015 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Tricky: animate dots along 3 paths always aligned

Thanks for giving it a shot Fernando! I tried what you suggested, but for some crazy reason, the Median effect had not effect at all on the precomp. I like the look of what you’ve got going on there, but unfortunately, the dots don’t align on the X axis either. It’s really just one of those things that probably has to be done by hand (I definitely don’t see a demand for doing this ever again), but if somebody knew of a way to accomplish it quickly, I would be oh so grateful!

  • The shortcut is Y. It’s the same shortcut for the pan behind tool which consequently is how you move any layer’s anchor point outside of Newton.

You probably used the layer style stroke effect or Generate Stroke if you’re getting a rounded stroke. Try doing it with the text animator instead. I tested it with Helvetica on various letters and it seems to do the trick just fine. You might also want to animate the tracking at the same time to adjust the spacing.

February 28, 2015 at 5:45 pm in reply to: Spinning planet with connecting lines?

I’ve done this with C4D with not too much difficulty (also where that videohive example was built). I tried doing something with CC Sphere and putting just a line in there to have it wrap around the globe, and that works, but the line is flat and you can’t go from point to point (country A to country B) and you know how resolution goes with CC Sphere.

Unless you own something better than C4D Lite, you might try looking up some tutorials on how to do it there.

I think Dem Earth ($329 C4D plugin) has those kinds of lines built into, but that’s an extreme solution.
