Hey MD is your problem, that disc one says finished 100% but nothing happens? If so leave the room make a pot of coffie or your favourit bevearaged and return. It takes a few minuts from it tells you It is at 100% until it actually finishes the discs. I realised that then upgrading to FCS 2 last week.

You have the possibility of using the upgrade assistant on the new mac, It will move files and applications including settings from the old machine to the new machine. You can when upgrade to FCS 2 from the old version. I recently moved all informations from a mac mini to my new Mac Pro that way and it worked flawlessly

You can buy it from Apple or an Apple Reseller as an upgrade option. The version Apple sales is the same version you can buy as an cto option for the Mac Pro. It will of cause cost more to buy it later than build into a CTO Mac Pro, but you will have 2 graphics cards . I personally decided to stick with the standard card waiting for a card upgrade sometime in the future.

I thought about the same thing my self yesteday and did a seach on the mac Mini Intel version yesteday. Someone had asked if they would be able to use Final Cut 5 and I think DVD studio pro from the studio packeds on the mac Mini. Apple replied that though it did not meet the minimum requirement of Studio do to its missing GPU and thus the inability to install Motion, DVD studio pro and Final Cut Pro 5 would work fine. Considering that a Macbook pro shares the same kind of processors the same intel 950 graphic chipset with shared memory, and the same harddrive when one must expect that the Mac book would run Final Cut 5

Try Exporting your time line as a quicktime movie without making the file selfcontained. Use Current setting and check export markers if you have any otherwise uncheck it. Import that reference movie into compressor and have a go again. I learned about this methode in Larry Jordans exellent Final Cut 5 H.O.T from Lyndan. But you can find the describtion on how to do it on lafcp.org as well. Hopefully it would solve your problem;-)

  • I am not sure what he means by reloading the software unless he is refering to reintalling the software. Rebuilding the disc however is proberly using a utility like Diskwarrior to go through the disk. The program will look at how the files are placed on the harddrive. If 2 many of the files are out of order which the will be eventually. Disk warrior will be able to create a new library with files in order. Move your file to the new library in an inorder manner.
