Back in 2000 My then girlfriend now wife and I spend 5 weeks in New Zealand. During those 5 weeks I filmed 7 hours of miniDV in 32khz (Stupid I know but done is done) Would it be possible to capture these tapes to Final Cut without the sound going bad, or should i try converting the sound somehow. If possible I am considering re editing the tapes and authore a DVD

FCP edits 32 kHz audio perfectly..

I have never had any trouble capturing and mixing the 32 k audio on a 48 k timeline.

And there will be no perceptible audio quality “difference” in your edit audio.

If you have any “issues” during your edit, post back.

Hi Matt Thanks for the feedback. The reason I asked was because I once edited the tapes using EditDV. Using 32Kbit files in an 48kbit time line increased the speed of the sound with out increasing the speed of the speed of the video. Glad to here Final Cut doesn

I recently upgraded to OS10.4, still using FCP 3. It seems since then that i can only capture in 48 khz. In the log and capture window it used to say under Capture Settings NTSC DV 32khz or NTSC DC 48 khz. Now it only reads 48khz. The tapes i just received (from customer) are in 12 bit and after 1 capture ( 52 mins lecture) the audio is really short.

I deleted the preferences from both users (me and admin) but all that did was reset my window setup.

any idea? do i need ot re-install FCP3? do i need to upgrade to FCP 4 or 5?

    thanks!
