May 16, 2006 at 7:51 pmSure it will. But it won’t support Motion (officially anyway). The minimum specs for SD work in FCP5 call for 867hz G5 or DuoCore,
HD requires more, but still less than the MacBook puts out.

It’s got a 13″ screen. Good luck trying to edit on that. 🙂

May 16, 2006 at 8:23 pmThe 13in screen is easily fixed with an external display for usage when you are at home. However, what about the graphics card. 64 MB, will that be able to hold its own. Especially with open gl aps like maya, after effects, motion, etc?

May 16, 2006 at 8:40 pmYa, I have a G5 at home with an Apple 20in Cinema Display, so I’m not worried about the 13in screen.
I was worried about the GPU.
Any ideas? Anyone running FCP 5 on an Intel Mac Mini?

May 16, 2006 at 10:03 pmI can’t really say I’m excited by the new lineup of MacBooks and MacBooks Pro. Issues:
1) No expansion slot in MacBook; only one slot in MacBook Pro.
2) Expansion slot in MacBook Pro WILL NOT natively accept Panasonic P2 cards.
3) No FW800 in the 15-inch (…IMHO, the 17-inch is just unwieldly).Don’t get me wrong, these machines look like they’ll pack one heck of a wallop. But for +$2k/$3k, not having “the little things” matters quite a bit.
p.s. “MacBooks Pro”…kinda like “Attorneys General”…right?

May 16, 2006 at 10:15 pmI edit and author on a 1.5 17″ PB and before that a 1.0 15″ so I would say it’s more than doable.
I have a 17″ MBP on order, at NAB they the Shake Demo class were held on the 15″ MBP.
As noted if you use Motion I would look into the 15″ MBP instead.
