BCC for vegas has a great flicker fixer plug in.

That looks beautiful. No one would even be looking for that let alone be able to catch it. Nice job.

Corning pinning does a lot more in the three axis. The key is finding a good set of 4 corners. To reduce jitters (I’ve yet to master this)I’m assuming you rendered your keyframes in Full size preview. Also, you might try playing with the preprocess sliders to bring out your points and make them easier to track. Like I said, I’ve yet to master a perfect move so I end up adding camera shake or a pan-crop move to the whole thing to hide imperfections.

Thanks for all the inputs. Avoiding flat images in camera and with time of day (when you have a choice) is good planning. But when the images are in the can it’s the post production work I’ll need to work on. I’ll look into Magic Bullet. Do any of the BCC or VASST Ultimate S tools do what Magic Bullet does?

I don’t have 12 but I’ve never heard of a new version of Vegas requiring the previous version to be unistalled. In fact, most guys don’t risk dumping their old version until the new version is proven stable.. and for good reason. 🙂

January 11, 2013 at 5:44 pm in reply to: DSLR to record video and edit in Vegas ProDSLRs in my opinion, do not replace a real video camera. I have the Nikon D7000 and experience with other DSLRs that take video. They are great for studio set ups and in controlled environments. But the lack of reliable autofocus and view finder make them unsuitable for event shoots. Sure you can get follow focus rigs and magnifiers for your chimp screen, but I still find them difficult to use on the fly.
As far as compatibility with Vegas, I’ve had no issues importing the files in any of the formats.—————

I’m going to have to try that route generator software. But the way I’ve always done it is to create two maps, one with and one without the route drawn. Then place the two maps one above the other on the timeline. Use the mask tool to reveal the route with keyframes to suite the speed you need. You can use this method to show a vehicle (a third event above the two maps). You can also show just a trail behind the vehicle by using a feathered mask of a set size and move it along the path instead of revealing the entire map behind you.

[John Rofrano] “the hardware that’s assisting needs to be more powerful than the hardware you already have.”
Makes sense, now if only there was a cross reference comparing all possible GPUs to their matched CPUs we wouldn’t have to guess. I wonder and guess that the speed of the render relies on the type of processing that’s going on in your timeline. Making the decision to use GPU that much more unpredictable. I’ve got a 580 and made the switch to GPU… now I question if that’s the right choice. I’ve only got an old Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz so I thought the newer GUP would be the right choice.
