Motion tracking / BCC 8 / Vegas 12 Pro / Apply to light – howto
I have VP 12 pro, bcc 8, win 7 Ulitmate.
Looking to try and motion track a dancer on stage to have the puffy-rays follow the track, but I am having a little difficulty understanding how to apply the motion-tracker to the light source.
I have tracked the dancer no problem but am missing the final link – how to apply the motion tracking data to the light’s position. I want to make it as if the light is moving in the same direction as the principal dancer as she moves around the stage, thus making the interactions with the other dancers on stage interesting.
From the docs it looked like I was supposed to use the pixel chooser? But when I do, even thought I set the source to ‘light’ it does not move when I preview the clip.
Any suggestion on how I can apply motion tracking data to the light’s position?

Hi Stewart,
So once you have completed the motion tracking, you disable the “Track on the Fly” button, and then to set the “Apply” pop-up in the motion tracking group to “Light Source.”

Thank you for your quick response.
I found that – thank you – I guess I need to spend less time reading the actual docs, and more time actually going through each of the properties. I had become hung-up about trying to work with the pixel chooser.
That works perfectly (and gives a superb effect).
