You can’t in FCPX unfortunately but if you export through Compressor you can set the Chapters precisely you want them.

Certain other apps can inadvertently cause this. For example, if you open a clip in Adobe Premiere or After Effects without turning off the Write XMP ID To Files On Import preference, FCP X will generally refuse to relink. Also, any time you change the frame rate or audio configuration, relinking will typically fail as well.

Yes you will be losing quality. Use a Compound Clip instead which does the same thing effectively but doesn’t cost a generation.

You could do a simple, cute one in iMovie or if you wanted something more elaborate you can purchase a Google Earth Pro license and do it as animation.

Jason- in your screen shot it looks like a very short piece of gap is between the selected clip and the timelapse shot, which would prevent you from adding a transition. Jump to that edit point and zoom all the way to confirm and delete the gap. Then you should be fine adding a transition.
