Buy a Kensington Trackball or a Wacom. That’ll solve the problem.

  • Why don’t you just do the scroll in your NLE?

Why are you downconverting to SD?

If you have FCP Studio installed just render out a full res movie file from After Effects and then throw that into Compressor. There’s a ton of really useful presets in there that can be customized to meet your needs(like applying gamma corrections to compensate for the compression). I don’t know anyone that does real compression for web directly out of After Effects. You could also use Visual Hub, it’s incredibly cheap and gets great results.

Mpeg2 is more of a distribution format rather than something you would use as editing material. Not sure what you should do other than getting the files as a more suitable codec.

Scratch my replies. I didn’t realize the Avid website had the codecs available for free now. Sorry.

The short answer is no. They should have known to export the file without the Avid codec. They should have given you an animation or photo jpeg quicktime file. Get back to them and get a proper export.

Why don’t you just letter box it and then resize the footage when you’re rendering it out? That or just precomp it and resize it to match your new composition size.
