We have a small production shop in Key West, Florida running FCP. A lot of what we do is feed news footage over fiber lines to the affiliates in Miami. I’m looking for a good codec to convert footage too in order to feed via FTP. We have some clients who would prefer to recieve packages over the internet. We feed footage to The Weather Channel with out a problem (mpeg2), but have run into some issues recently with importing the mpeg2 files into Avid systems for other clients.

    Any one have some ideas?

Mpeg2 is more of a distribution format rather than something you would use as editing material. Not sure what you should do other than getting the files as a more suitable codec.

I think your best bet would be to ask those who you will be delivering to, what format they would prefer.
