Hey, I’m pretty sure you can use a mask/matte to control the particle engine. So what I would suggest doing is do the shatter turn that into a mask/matte. Do up your bird particle, use the shatter animation as a mask/matte to drive the particle engine and then you’ll have to create a transition to best suit. I’m not sure if you can then control the particles after that but I am assuming you can, once they have a place you could apply a force and they should move how you want .. Make sure it’s high contrast on the mask too, because the particle engine just uses white for large birds and when it goes grey it shrinks them in size and so on .. but it might be nice to blur the mask/matte so you get a bit of depth in the birds .. anyways, Havn’t tested so that’s just off the top of my head, let me know how it works out ..

Haha, sorry talking to the original poster .. Zim always puts “DOOM” on the end of everything so I thought I might ask the question. As for Invader Zim, it’s an off beat cartoon made by Jhonen Vasquez (well, known for his twisted and dark sense of humour in comics) which got axed a few years back. It’s very intresting, if your into cartoons 😛 Anyways, enjoy…

I just read the title for the thread. There isn’t really a plugin todo that, but you don’t really need one because you know what you want and if you do it in AE you’ll get a great ORIGINAL effect that no one is doing because we’ll you thought of it .. Good luck.

Hey,
Do you use both Premiere and After effects. You can load your Premiere file up in AE or you should just output the final movie or section you want to be effected into AE and then do what Chris suggested. That’s what it’s there for, Where I work I get given all the fx shots that the editors put togther so yeah, it’s just happens. I guess I’m saying, don’t try and do everything in Premiere it’s geat for editing and light effects but that’s about it .. Other then that pull everything in AE and use the mixmodes 😀
Your explination of the effect was great, and like chris said you just need to be confident and apply that break down into actually doing it. You know what you want, and if you followed what you wrote it would do some great things .. if that makes sense .. heheh. Anyways, hope that’s helpfull, I’m a bit confused as to why you use both but arn’t just pulling the footage back and forward .. Do editing in PRemiere and Do post / visual fx and compo work in AE and you’ll have some great looking things.

And maybe get the latest 6.5.1 patch .. just incase. Drivers will be the main issue though.

I don’t know what version of AE you are using but 6.0 comes with keylight and well, it also has fuctions for doing this in the key itself. you might just need 2, one that cuts the band out perfect and the other one is to control the overlay layer that has the bleed setup. Anyways, hope it works out.

You could use expressions or you could just use the wiggle fuction on the on the size of the layer. I don’t know when this came into AE but I think it’s been there since 5.5 but it sits here. Menu > Window > Wiggler. Then a windows will pop up and you need to highlight your keyframes that you want .. in the size just add a keyframe at the start (0) of the SEQ and at the end (100) then select both keyframes and the wiggle menu will light up. This things selects random numbers around the place, you select the values it can swing around by, and the freq in which the keyframes are applied .. Have fun.

that’s strange, I import 5000++ tga’s all the time and they work a dream. The only thing I can do is step you through the importing process. Other then that, mmm. Go to File > Import > File .. (or Ctrl+I). Then find your sequence. Click just one picture in the seq doesn’t matter where. You’ll see a box highlight down the bottom that should say “Targa Sequence” select that box. And then press ok. And it should be in.
Oh, I just though of a possible problem. Check the names out, make sure they are sequential and it doesn’t drop out, like go .. 200, 201, 203 .. or have a different name like, blah100, blah102, blah_103, blah_104
it’s going to see them as seperate files .. hope this helps...::hunz..
