    Agreed.

    But I wonder one thing.
Noone private’s going to have a CRT HD screen. Everyone and my aunt is going to watch on LCDs, plasmas and projectors.
    How does this influence CC?

    1. I did the Grill and it works just nice.

    2. Not that I’m aware of, but it should have been! that is exacly my problem, I have the disks in an external
cabinet and have to get the cables in.

    Done now.
    Works.

    Thanks!

March 11, 2006 at 10:34 am in reply to: Mac .dmg on a PC machine…?

    Well…

The .dmg suffix is mac-specific and has a number of implications. It can be compressed – or not, it can be in .iso, .hfs or hfs+ format or even fat, so it’s a bit like quicktime: It’s a container.

To make a bootable image file for a Mac from a PC, I’d choose to make the more universal .iso format.

Among others, can Nero create an .iso.

How you would go about to accomplish the “bootable Mac image” from a PC is another story.

March 11, 2006 at 10:29 am in reply to: How do you find invisible files in OSX?

You could also download TinkerTool to turn visibility on and off in a blink, and to force restart Finder among others.

    It’s pretty kool.

March 11, 2006 at 10:25 am in reply to: Anyone got Info about the 720p50 format specs?

For now it seems the only “legit” delivery format for PAL is to deliver 720p 25/50 in a 1080i 50 stream.

That said, Norwegian cinema-commersials can be delivered in 720p25 and 1080p25, but then you deliver files, not tapes.

This is a very annoying issue!

March 8, 2006 at 9:33 pm in reply to: Can G5 have two bootable drives?

Yes. Easy as … sorta actually doing it.

When you have installed your new system on your second drive, you use startupdisc in systemprefferences to choose which to boot from.

… or you can hold down option just after you start up your mac to choose from all awailable disks.

  • First you’ll have to be in a non-interlaced square pixel environment. Then…

Sorta depends on compression and resolution vs computer.

  • How do you do this?

HD-SDI to a Blackmagic or AJA card?
Capturing with “capture now” settings in FinalCut to which format?
    HD/SD compression type?

Which framerates are you recording at?

The Varica, is a 720p only camera.
You know that all universally playable DVD’s are still SD Only?
Or are you making HD-DVD’s for playback from a computer?

Don’t use iDVD it’s bad and meant for other use than what you describe.
DVD Studio Pro and compressor are excellent, but demanding programs.
You’ll have to play around with settings to get the best compression results.
But do a search at the FCP COW and DVDSP COW.
