[erick@VBS] “I have a client who tells me they shot Varicam 1080P 24 fps (23.98).”
It was not shot this way, as the VariCam is a 720p only camera. The 24 fps are made from a pulldownpattern from a 60 fps videostream.
[erick@VBS] ” They then downconverted for offline to DV/DVCam codec at 29.97.”
This sounds sorta reasonable, doesn’t it?
[erick@VBS] “Now they’ve brought me a sequence that was cut at 29.97 and they want to uprez and conform back to 24fps. EEEEEEEEEK!!!!”
Is this not the point when you recapture the tapes at full rez (from the aj 1200) either through hd-sdi if you need upscaling to 1080 or through firewire if you want to stay in the 720p domain, apply the FRC and render out the final movie?
