Sounds like you have the playback audio switched. If memory serves, you have 1/3, 2/4 or somthig like that? It’s been a while. If you can see levels on both channels in EE (When it’s recording), it does live on the tape.

HDV but you can set it up in the camera to letterbox it for ya as you record. If ya dont wanna be marred to that, you can often set it up to convert your animorphic video to a letterbox upon playback, as you capture. These two ways will keep ya from waisting a resize effect on a layer.
HDV is much more crisp than DV. In the SDI world, it’s squeezing 1080 down. Like whan ya scale somthing up past 100% it gets all muchy? Oppositeprincipal apples… it get more crisp as ya shrink it.
FWIW, I work on an on-going documentary and I shoot it with an FX1 in 720 HDV. No need to shoot it in 1080 as I spit DVDs out as letterboxed sdi. I havn’t the hardware to handle real HDV anyway.

I may be wrong but I believe a router and many manned stations are your best way to go.

An operator on each machine would have to hit capture but you could route the signal to as many workstations as ya like. Now, I have not tried interfacing with media captured with FreeDV but if its omfi, I think you may be in luck there. You’d still need multiple people to push da buttons. Alternativly, you could set these systems up yourself and if timing isn’t a factor, walk to each station yourself and hit capture.

that’d apply to sequences imported as media as well, man. They’ll be able to import the oversized video and zoom and pan on demand in any sized project.

DS just imports the image, whatever size it may be. then allows ya to move it around as ya like. The way it otta be with every NLE.
You can always rezise em in photoshop first. Are there too may for this? If not too many, is animating them in AE for the online n option at this point? You cold do em at hirez so they’ already be ready for the online.

in a nutshell. No need to promote it to 3D either.
You may also be able to d this out of your camera/player. It’ll save ya a layer of effects if you can do it that way.

selct resize in your import settings. This’ll give you the entire image and you can then use a pip effect to do what you like with it. You just can’t zoom in past 100% much this way as it’ll start tearing it up.
