    There isn’t a statue as such, just the basic nude figure in Poser. changing the colour settings should get you close to gold.

    Obviously Dave is right about copyright, although if this is for a non-broadcast charity ‘home project’ then AMPAS would never learn about it. And if it is this type of project, would they even care?

    I have heard some scary stories about AMPAS though, like there’s a chef who makes oscar cakes, and designed a statuette mould, which AMPAS keep locked up 360 days of the year and let him use only to make cakes at oscar time.

    If you are worried at all though, then go the other way with this. For some tongue-in-cheek teachers awards we did, i filmed a garden gnome against bluescreen.

    A shame they don’t like the bounce. i do.

    My experience of family projects is that as the family projects is that the things that wow us, are never the things that impress them. Trust me, stick a lens flare and some shine rays on the photos in 3D space and they will think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. It might not be showreel material and it’s certainly cheesy as hell.

    Ayato’s got a nice photomosaic in 3D space.

    I don’t suppose you have poser do you? Poser 3 was free years on the cover of Computer Arts magazine. maybe you could get a back issue.

    With poser, you’d be able to reproduce the statuette, i think even down to the sword.

    This shot is generally called an impossible zoom, a search of the Cow archives will dig up lots of threads about this.

    Ultimately, the shot comes down to the quality of the footage. if you’re happy with you eye close up, then if i were in your shoes, i’d set the video layer to be a 3d layer and keyframe its position in z-space to do the zoom in. that way the camera appears to move towards the eyes, rather than magnifying it.

    The only change i had to make is to add a negative setting to the orientation.

    my_orient=-lookAt(position,thisComp.layer(“Camera 1”).position)
    X=orientation[0];
    Y=my_orient[1];
    Z=orientation[2];

    I normally have my force1 set at -5 (position), until i need the shatter then i bring it up to 0.1, i get quite a good impact. although even that can be slow at times.

    Another method might be to try use a real explosion (stock footage etc.) as a gradient.

    Artbeats is the supplier of choice, but i use VCE.com as i’m on a tight budget for that sort of thing.

    To be honest it sounds like you’re already there, but for one short step.

    You need to apply the Displacement Map filter to a layer which is already FX ready. In other (and slightly clearer) words, AE renders out displacement mapping, before applied FX. So you need to take your composition with Zaxwerks in it and nest it into a second comp, then you can use it as your displacement map.
