Dunno about bringing into FCP (PC user here), but the bouncing ball is relatively easy, if time consuming.

Highlight a layer in your comp, preview the audio by hitting the ‘.’ key on your numberpad and then at every time you want the ball to be down, hit the ‘*’ key on the numberpad. It’ll leave a marker on the layer at the point in time.

Now, all you have to do is animate the ball to be down at each one of those markers. I think someone wrote an expression to convert markers to keyframes, but you’d have to search the archives for it.

Obvious question, are you sure you had the export audio checkbox ticked. After Effect’s rendering preset for lossless video doesn’t have the audio option ticked. It’s easy enough to change, just click on Lossless and set up your video compression settings and tick that pesky little box.

If that’s not the case, check you’ve got audio turned on in the timeline. I’ve lost count of the number of times I made that mistake.

    Hope that helps

Sounds like the same problem I have with .mp3 files. After Effects doesn’t seem to like them as much as Premiere.

If you can convert your .mp3 file to a .wav, you’ll have no problem.

    Hope that helps

  • I always tend to think of action safe as “if i need the audience to see it, it doesn’t go outside action safe, if it doesn’t matter, then it can”.

Say I wanted to blow a hole in a big alien mothership, i’ve got my explosion video, and I want to put it on the alien mothership where the engine room is, if the engine room isn’t inside the action safe area, I can’t be sure people with older non-flat-screen, non-plasma, rounded corners TVs will see it.

You’ll be surprised how much of the picture is lost on those old rounded corners TVs.

    Hope that helps

I’d create a lit version and an unlit version in photoshop, then with glow applied to the lit version, I’d place all your lit bulbs over the top of you lit ones, then by either using Strobe or manually setting the opacity keyframes for one lit bulb layer, you should be able to use a simple expression to duplicate and delay the effect to your others, or you could manually copy-and-paste the keyframes to the other lights.

    Hope that helps

I’d prepare an image in photoshop. CC Sphere and Conoa Sphere both wrap 2:1 images into well spheres.

If you google a search you can find NASA’s public domain maps of Earth in this ratio.

There’s also Kurt Murphy’s excellent tutorial on creating a glass globe

October 29, 2006 at 9:02 am in reply to: objects moving around people effect

You can make your keyed people in 3D layers, then depending on the level of 3D-ness you need, After Effect’s own 3D layers allows you to move those layer and your objects layers around in 3D space.

Alternatively, if your 3D objects need to be full on 3D, render them out and use the split layers option to bring them in front and behind your actors.

    Hope that helps

  • If you’re shooting the white bathroom stuff in an infinity cove (white rooms, curved walls) then you’re proably going to be able to use animated masks with a feather on them. It’s a lot less work than full rotoscoping.

  • Wow, saw this in my inbox this morning. We use Visual Communicator pretty extensively at the school where I work, and like Flash, this could have a huge impact, especially as far as integration is concerned. Does this mean the next version won’t have OLE with PowerPoint but PDF instead 🙂
