Hi, I am trying to create a rotating semi-transparent globe in After Effects. What is the easiest and quickest way? In Adobe bridge there is a “globe grid” animation whicj is similar to what i am looking for. How would I wrap an image around it? Thanks!

I’d prepare an image in photoshop. CC Sphere and Conoa Sphere both wrap 2:1 images into well spheres.

If you google a search you can find NASA’s public domain maps of Earth in this ratio.

There’s also Kurt Murphy’s excellent tutorial on creating a glass globe

Just create your grid (or whatever) and apply CC Sphere in Afte Effects.
The only thing you must do is to have an image 1X2 aspect ratio, 700×1400 pixels for example. then just rotate it the way you want. Then you can play with the layer’s apacity or even create its opacity in Photoshop.
