You need to select the Events before PEA-ing.

Are you wanting to zoom in at FRAME level? OR, what type of detailed work are you wanting to carry out, that requires you to zoom in? Colour Correction?

    Good question.

I don’t know about a tute, but have you tried the quite laudable HELP [?] Icon on Glint? There is stacks of really useful stuff to read thru’.

    Very odd indeed . . .

I can open V8 in V9. I can also have my own Generated GenMedia open from V8 into V9 – which is what I thought WOULD be the issue? Unless . . unless . . you ARE opening a V8 that HAD usage of some GenMed that you now have removed OR have you switch PCs with this install of V9 – that could be it?

February 5, 2010 at 10:33 am in reply to: Widescreen DVD plays back squashed on WS TV

Unless you have stated this within your post, what have you set your TV’s DVD player to? Is it 16×9 WS or Auto or what? I can’t quite discern this from what you have written. From what I’ve read it would appear you are testing the veracity of your conclusion about your 4×3 TV against the output and monitoring on your WS TV. What I am saying is that this could be spurious and, consequently, COULD be giving you a comparison that is in itself a false positive?

    Waddyah fink?

Responding to the grading tip, experiment with reflecting that the “feel” relates to the narrative.

This requires a personal appreciation of the interaction of emotional and spatial dynamics going on. Mightily complex stuff – well, it CAN be. Now, this can mean that warm and cuddly is reflected BY the colour grading for all that. OR one can be ironic and drift warm and cuddly towards the bleak and menacing for a more insinuating & horrific outcome. These are all old, tried and tested approaches in the great lexicon of colour grading. And we still respond.

My advice? “Watch Private Ryan”, or “The Rock” or “Black Hawk Down” or my fav for this kinda stuff, any of the triangle “Pirates of the Caribbean” WITH THE SOUND turned down – and make copious hand written notes!!!

An interesting, non Vegas-specific question. If I was to make it specific to Vegas, I’d be looking at then creating looks using Fx-ing and saving the Fx chains as Plugin presets? You might wish to look at Magic Bullet Looks, or . . . . whatever . .

  • AH yes, that’s be the “Immune Block Virus
    . . . nah, just kidding . . .

What you have there is a selection that YOU have done at some point by DRAGGING your cursor OVER the face of the Preview. This is a useful function but not for you at present.

OK, to remove this “result” you need to click on the Split Screen Icon’s Drop down Arrow on the Preview Toolbar, and select ALL – that should reset your Fx viewing BACK to what you want. There maybe another tweak you then need to do, but that should remove the scrubbed selection.

I would definitely NOT use the 2nd CC for overall color correction. Terry E hit the nail on the head.

Use the Colour Corrector (primary). Using the 2nd CC will only allow you to select a range of colours to affect. The Primary CC will be systemic and correct the WHOLE frame/video.

    To Recap:

1] Colour Corrector – Use: Systemic

    2] 2nd Colour Corrector – Use : Range

You could also use Colour Curves. 2nd colour corrector for this? It would drive me even more bonkers than I am.

If you want to see me using the 2nd Colour Corrector for use in Colour Selection go here and then maybe you will re-think – yeah?:

    What Media are you using?

    What settings is your Project?

What template are you rendering to? Yes you say AVI, but what details of the AVI template? Uncompressed (my guess is that!) . . . what?

    Your PC Specs?

You’ll need to provide a bit more info – please?
