Once you have this tool, learn how to properly calibrate it and do this daily. -

This requires a personal appreciation of the interaction of emotional and spatial dynamics going on. Mightily complex stuff – well, it CAN be. Now, this can mean that warm and cuddly is reflected BY the colour grading for all that. OR one can be ironic and drift warm and cuddly towards the bleak and menacing for a more insinuating & horrific outcome. These are all old, tried and tested approaches in the great lexicon of colour grading. And we still respond.
My advice? “Watch Private Ryan”, or “The Rock” or “Black Hawk Down” or my fav for this kinda stuff, any of the triangle “Pirates of the Caribbean” WITH THE SOUND turned down – and make copious hand written notes!!!
An interesting, non Vegas-specific question. If I was to make it specific to Vegas, I’d be looking at then creating looks using Fx-ing and saving the Fx chains as Plugin presets? You might wish to look at Magic Bullet Looks, or . . . . whatever . .
